Awarded for successfully engaging in activities that develop an understanding of digital rights, this badge recognises your ability to identify, explain, and apply key digital rights in online environments. Through participation in the “Young People’s Digital Rights in Youth Work” activities, you have demonstrated key competencies in online safety, privacy, and responsible digital engagement.

Skills and experiences gained
This badge aligns with DigComp 2.2 (Digital Competence Framework for Citizens) and supports the development of:
  • Information and data literacy - Understanding digital rights, privacy, and data protection.
  • Safety - Awareness of online risks, cybersecurity, and responsible digital behaviour.
  • Communication and collaboration - Engaging in respectful and meaningful digital participation.

Participate in the digital rights workshop to earn the Digital Rights Aware badge.

Preparation:
  • Print the infographic in A4 or A3 size and cut it into puzzle pieces, keeping each digital right separate.
  • Write the title of the right on one side and the explanation on the other.
  • Place the puzzle pieces face-down on a table, floor, or wall.

Activity:
  • Step 1: Work individually or in small teams to guess and explain each digital right in your own words
  • Step 2: Flip the pieces over to reveal the full explanations and discuss how these rights apply to their digital experiences

Get the badge:
  • Task: Identify a real-life example of a digital rights violation or ethical challenge (e.g., cyberbullying, privacy invasion, misinformation). Describe the issue and propose a solution.
  • Evidence: Submit a case analysis including:
  1. The issue identified
  2. Its impact on young people
  3. A proposed solution for addressing or preventing similar violations

  • Step 2. Participate in online discussions via Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams to share insights about youth digital rights
